A-OMF

The A-OMF speaker diaphragm fibers provide an extremely fast and accurate response. A-OMF incorporates a PEN (polyethylene naphthalate) layer with a flexible cotton weave. We then added an aramid layer to create New A-OMF.

A-OMF Monocoque

A-OMF Monocoque shares the same composition as A-OMF, but features a one-piece cone construction covering center cap. In some lower quality speaker cones, unwanted vibration can come from the center cap. With A-OMF Monocoque construction, the center cap and woofer are covered by a single diaphragm, dramatically reducing vibration and improving audio accuracy.

Audyssey 2EQ

Loudspeakers are specifically designed to deliver sound without distortion or coloration. Nevertheless, walls, furniture and other objects reflect and absorb sound, creating distortion that is unique to your own space. To counter this, Audyssey 2EQ corrects problems both in frequency response and in the time domain (where most of the problems lie), across the entire listening area. The results are immediately obvious—a clear, precise and natural sound.

Audyssey Dynamic Volume®

This technology allows you to set the volume level that you want and keep it there, without having to constantly adjust it. By anticipating sudden spikes and dips in the audio soundtrack and compensating for them in real time, Audyssey Dynamic Volume ensures consistent volume levels, regardless of the content you’re enjoying. Thanks to Audyssey Dynamic Volume, quiet dialogue is easier to pick up, loud passages retain their impact, and commercials are less intrusive.

Audyssey DSX

Audyssey DSX lets you augment a standard 7.1-channel surround set-up with two “front wide” channels. Two extra speakers expand the width of the soundstage and help to produce a more realistic and immersive listening experience. Alternatively, Audyssey DSX can be configured to deliver “front height” channels. These channels carry non-directional audio that adds a new vertical dimension to your movies and games.

Audyssey Dynamic EQ®

Audyssey Dynamic EQ solves the problem of deteriorating sound quality at lower volumes. The professionals who create music and movies do so at reference levels much louder than typical home listening levels. When volume is reduced on a standard home theater receiver, the bass disappears, voices change, and the surround soundstage becomes less enveloping. As volume is adjusted on an A/V receiver with Audyssey Dynamic EQ, the best possible frequency response and surround levels are selected moment-by-moment. This results in an ideal listening experience at any volume level.

Audyssey MULTEQ XT

Audyssey’s advanced MultiEQ XT room correction solution calibrates your speakers and equalizes your system to suit your room’s unique acoustics. DAB+

DAB+ is based on the original DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) standard, but uses the more efficient MP4 or AAC+ codec, whereas DAB uses the older MP2 format. This allows equivalent or better subjective audio quality to be broadcast at lower bit rates, thereby allowing more stations to be added to a “multiplex”—meaning greater listening choice for the consumer. Most countries offering DAB now provide a DAB+ broadcasting service.

DIDRC

Since the advent of digital audio, signal-to-noise ratios have improved dramatically. However, the S/N ratio reflects static noise only, and takes no account of another type of noise that occurs as the byproduct of sound reproduction—dynamic noise. To reduce this type of noise, Pioneer has developed DIDRC technology for use in our hi-fi components. Despite being beyond the normal range of human hearing, frequencies above 100 kHz are susceptible to clock pulse and other forms of distortion from digital devices. Such distortion in the super-high-frequency range can generate “beat interference”, which in turn affects the character or atmosphere of the original sound. By improving linearity and reducing distortion in the super-high frequency range, Pioneer's new DIDRC technology effectively reduces perceptible noise and delivers clearer-than-ever audio.

DivX

DivX is one of the world’s most popular video compression technologies. This software compresses video from virtually any source to a size where it can be transferred easily over the internet. Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC)

Conventional D/A conversion methods reduce digital pulse noise at the conversion stage but can’t remove it completely. Previously only found on Pioneer's high-end components, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry)employs a unique D/A conversion circuit to overcome this problem. Data is converted between sampling points and these points are joined with analogue vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output wave form. The result - a virtually noiseless, smooth analogue signal based on the digital source.

VL Digital

Up to now, pulse width modulation (PWM) has been used as an efficient method of amplifying audio signals. Theoretically, this method should result in accurate analog-to-digital conversion. In reality, “noise spikes” introduce errors into the inversion timing, making accurate conversion into pulse widths impossible. VL Digital works by charging and inverting analog input signals, and performing PWM proportional to the analog signal. The spike noise waveform is symmetrical, so the upper and lower portions of the waveform (their charge quantities) cancel each other out. This ensures accurate PWM at all times.

Windows Media Audio (WMA)

A proprietary compressed audio file format developed by Microsoft. Copied to CD-R/CD-RW, they can be played through most audio systems.

WRAT

WRAT is based around a low negative-feedback circuit topology that works to reduce signal noise and distortion across the frequency range. A “closed ground-loop circuit” design is employed, in which each circuit has a separate link to the power supply. This helps to cancel individual circuit noise and keep the ground potential free of distortion. High Instantaneous Current Capability (HICC) enables WRAT amplifiers to immediately cancel the speakers’ reflex energy and instantaneously send out the next signal. The same high current better manages speaker impedance fluctuations, which can negatively affect performance.

Zone 2

Pioneer A/V receivers feature a Zone 2 line-out that allows an audio source to be distributed to another room equipped with an amplifier and speakers. Users can play the same audio source in both rooms, or play different sources in both rooms simultaneously.
